If you are an EU citizen, you can apply for a residence permit, even though you have not been granted any yet.
But nevertheless, you have to submit a proof of having (had) a previous continuous stay in the Czech Republic.
If you are family members of EU citizens, you can, under certain conditions, apply for the following residence permits in the Czech Republic:
- Temporary residence permit
- Permanent residence permit, if:
- In the first place, if you yourself are a holder of permanent residence permit, and wish to apply for the same type of residence permit for your minor child or,
- if you are a survivor of a deceased citizen of the Czech Republic, who had a registered permanent residence in the Czech Republic or,
- if you are a survivor of a deceased EU citizen, who had been working in the Czech Republic and at the same time:
- had been staying in the Czech Republic for a continuous period of at least 2 years, or
- died following a workplace accident or died of an occupational disease, or
- you have lost your Czech citizenship after you married such a citizen, or you have gained the citizenship of the said person;
- you apply on humanitarian grounds (for example you are looking after an EU citizen, who cannot look after himself/herself due to his/her health condition, you are applying on behalf of a child born in the Czech Republic),
- your residence is in the interests of the Czech Republic.
