Certificate of a Professional Qualification to Perform a Job
A certificate of a professional qualification to perform a job is a necessary document when applying for some types of residence permits (for example, an employee card, an intra-company employee transfer card, an intra-company employee transfer card of another EU Member State) which serves you to prove that you have the necessary education or qualification to perform a particular job.
You can provide a certificate of a professional qualification to perform a job in a form that shows that you have the corresponding level of education or qualification. It can be, for example, a vocational certificate, a “maturita” exam certificate (or an alternative recognised by the Czech Republic), a university diploma, a corresponding document or certification.
In the case of application for an employee card, when your work position is registered in the Central Database of Job Vacancies, you must provide a certificate of a professional qualification to perform a job in the following cases:
- The nature of your work position requires a certain level of education (e.g. a Bachelor’s degree). In such case, you must prove this level of education with a relevant document. The Ministry of the Interior may request you to prove that your foreign education has been recognised by a correspondent Czech authority. - It is a regulated profession (e.g. a pyrotechnician). In this case, you must provide a certificate that you can perform such type of a job.
- A professional qualification is required in line with a special regulation – it concerns, for example, health professions.
In the case of Notification by an employee card holder of change of employer, work position or employment in another work position with the same or another employer you can replace this certificate with the Employer’s statement of the foreigner’s professional qualification to perform the job. It will be necessary to provide the certificate of a professional qualification to perform the job anyway, at the latest when you apply for an extension of the employee card’s validity.
