• The certificate you must provide is the Czech Language Certificate for the Purpose of Acquiring a Permanent Residence Permit in the Czech Republic. This certificate may be older than 180 days.
• You will receive a voucher for this exam from the Ministry of the Interior. You must collect this voucher in person, ideally having an appointment. Having the voucher, the first sitting is free of charge.
• You can choose the date and place of the sitting.
• You do not need to take the exam if you meet one of the exemptions.
• The exam’s form and formal requirements are governed by the Government Regulation on proving the knowledge of the Czech language for the purpose of acquiring a permanent residence permit (Government Regulation No. 31/2016 Sb.)

You do not need to provide a proof of the required level of the Czech language if you meet one of the following requirements:

• you are under 15 years of age,
• you are over 60 years of age,
• in the past 20 years before you applied, you had studied for at least 1 year at an elementary or a secondary school or a university where classes were given in Czech, or where the focus of the programme you studied was the Czech language,
• you prove that you passed another generally recognised Czech language exam,
• you have a physical or mental disability that affects the communication skills – must be proved with medical records;
• you are applying for a permanent residence permit under a different section than Section 68 (after five years of continuous residence).
