Study in the Czech Republic

EU citizens (as well as citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) may also stay in the Czech Republic temporarily, with no other limitation. They may also study without any limitations.

Family members of EU citizens (both close and distant ones) who are not EU citizens, but have applied for a temporary residence permit for their actual stay as a family member of an EU citizen, and at the same time have been granted a fiction of residence, or if it has been issued already, may stay in the Czech Republic and study without any limitation. If their application is rejected, their temporary residence is no longer permissible.

Third-country citizens must have a residence permit to stay in the Czech Republic. If such foreigners fulfill the purpose of residence and all the requirements stated by law, they can also study without any limitation. Study is not regarded as a profit-making activity. That is why it is possible for them, under certain circumstances, to study without any visa, even in cases of temporary residence.

Study can be classified as a purpose of residence. If the mode of study conforms with the provisions of law, third-country citizens can stay in the Czech Republic on the basis of a long-term visa for the purpose of study, or a residence permit with the purpose of study. For other modes of study, you can apply for a corresponding long-term visa.
